SSG. (Ret.) Nathan Ray Speck, 35, of Fayetteville, North Caroline passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Born January 16, 1982 in Findlay, Ohio he was the only son of Julie (Bailey) Losoya-Harthi.
Nathan loved spending time with his children. He graduated from Findlay High School in 2000. He enlisted in the US Army in 2006 and on May 28, 2007, Nathan hit an I.E.D. while serving in Iraq and was awarded the Purple Heart. After 10 years of service to his country, he retired with an honorable discharge as Staff Sargent. He was a volunteer with Operation Tattooing Freedom and was also an adaptive athlete with Operation Enduring Warrior. Nathan loved helping the Veteran community and spreading awareness for PTSD. Nathan was the epitome of a soldier with his loyalty to the Army and soldiers he served with.
In addition to his mother Julie, who resides in Findlay, Nathan is also survived by his foster parents, Dennis and Pam (Webb) Jacobs of Arkansas; his son, Alexander Speck; and daughter, Autumn Speck, both of Kansas; step-children, Uriah and Loreli Nutt, both of Fayetteville; fiancé, Jennifer Garland of Fayetteville; and former wife, Heather Speck of Kansas.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Mike Nartker officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with the Hancock County Veteran's Memorial Squad performing full military rites.
