Stephen Egbert

Stephen W. Egbert, age 71, of Carey, passed away on January 2, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. He was born September 28, 1952, in Mt. Blanchard, to William and Mary (Shafer) Egbert. On June 29, 1971, Steve married Jill Lentz, and she survives.

Steve was a graduate of Riverdale High School. He worked in construction, Marion Local 574, for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, garage sales, collecting and fixing old tractors as he could fix anything. Steve never knew a stranger, and his dog, Peanut, was his faithful companion.

Those left behind to cherish Steve’s memory are his wife, Jill; children, Timothy (Jennifer) Egbert and Sara Egbert; grandchildren, Austin (Lindsay) Egbert, Taylor Fisher, Michael Fisher, Riley Fisher, Alivia Egbert, Layla Egbert, and Madilyn Egbert; great-grandchildren, Rowland and Elias Egbert; brothers, Thomas (Louann) Egbert and William (Arlene) Egbert. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Egbert; siblings, Daniel Egbert, Colene Woerner, Donald Egbert, Fred Egbert, and two infant sisters.

There will be a graveside service on Monday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Lee Cemetery, Vanlue, followed by a celebration of Steve’s life at 3:00 p.m. at Ridge Chapel Church of the Nazarene, 370 OH-568, Carey.
