“There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. Yet, that will be the beginning.”
Steven “Bo” Earl Smith, 82, of Fostoria, peacefully passed away July 28, 2025, at his residence holding his wife’s hand.
He was born on March 18, 1943, in Maysville, KY, to the late “Chuck” Chester E. and “Sis” Estella M. (Browning) Smith.
Bo was employed as a mechanic at Seneca Wire and Manufacturing Company for 20 years before retiring. He was also once the local union representative for UAW Local 775 and looked forward to the retiree lunches every month to gather with fellow coworkers. In his spare time, he took great interest in working on any kind of vehicle, especially in the classic cars. He would take time researching the family tree and his love of reading any kind of book gave him a unique knowledge of just about anything. He loved chocolate, reminiscing about old times and teasing the grandkids, and his wife.
He had a gift of gab, never met a stranger and would drop anything to help anyone at any given time. Although Bo lived in Fostoria, he was a true Kentuckian and often referred to Kentucky as "God's Country."
Bo is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Mabel; children, Stephanie (Tim) Kern, Lorrel Filliater, Ron (Natalie) Mullholand, Sandy Smith, and Shannon Johnson; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and niece, Kathy Dorn.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Ramona Hesler, and Sherry Mains; son, David Smith; Great-grandson, Collin Turner; son-in-law Edward Filliater and sisters, Hope Adams, and Linda Fraizer.
“When I die, remember that what you knew of me is with you always. What is buried is only the shell of what was. Do not regret the shell, but remember the man. Remember the father.”
Quotes from one of his favorite authors, Louis L’Amour.
At Bo’s request, there will be no services. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to serve Bo’s family.
