Steven "Steve" T. Martin
May 17, 1968 — September 7, 2025
Awendaw, SC
Steven “Steve” Timothy Martin, age 57, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 17, 1968, in Oregon, Ohio, Steve was the beloved son of Earl and Lenore Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William Martin; and his son, Logan Martin.
Steve’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, true love, and best friend, Anita; his children, Brittney (Rafael) Velez, Allison (Ries) Parvin, Chelsea (Taylor) Opp, and Anderson Martin; and his cherished grandchildren, Norah and Penny Opp, and Evelyn, Charlotte, and Archie Parvin. Brother: David Martin. Sister: Sue (Glenn) Mohre. Niece and Nephew: Kristen (Caleb) Mosher and their son Josiah; Brad (Emily) Mohre.
Steve and Anita were blessed with a large and loving extended family, all of whom were dear to Steve’s heart. Among them, he shared a particularly special bond with his nieces and nephews Rachel (Balal “Billy”) Berro and their children Ramzi, Anaya, Lorenzo, Leilana “Mimi,” and Elias; Marvin (Brianna) Brock; Mario Brock; Rebecca (Alex) Zappone and their daughter Ella; as well as his brother in-law, Rolando Obregon, and sister in-law and family, Olivia (Julian), Veronica, Christina, and Elijah Herrera. Each of them brought joy to his life in unique ways, and Steve was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren, who remained his greatest blessing.
Steve graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1986. Then in 1991, he graduated from the University of Toledo with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was the fourth generation of his family to work at The Blade, where he served as a District Manager for 23 years. He later worked at BP and was especially proud of his service as a firefighter with the ERT in Toledo for five years. Most recently, Steve was a Process Technician at Ineos in Wando, South Carolina, where he was blessed to work with many wonderful people, including a dear friend and brother, Torrey Lawson.
Outside of work, Steve found joy in many passions. He loved working on the family property, “La Ponderosa,” alongside his brother from another mother, Ted “Tedtastic”, and close friend Sandy Pappenfus, who became like family to him. While living in Ohio and Michigan, Steve also enjoyed flying single-engine planes with his pilot’s license, a hobby that brought him freedom and adventure. He was an avid fisherman who found peace on the water, and he loved to travel with Anita, sharing countless adventures and experiences together. Steve had a true adventurous spirit that shaped the way he lived and loved.
Steve was known for his kindness, patience, and generosity. He loved cooking and baking, and could prepare any dish—especially meats—to perfection. A skilled handyman, he could fix just about anything and was always eager to lend a hand to friends, family, or even strangers in need. Growing up on a farm, Steve carried those practical skills and a strong work ethic throughout his life. Above all, he will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his ability to see the good in everyone, and the love he poured into every relationship. Steve was a blessing to everyone who knew him. His life, though far too short, was rich with love, joy, and faith, and serves as an example of how to treat others with grace and compassion.
In the midst of his struggle with brain cancer, Steve’s final wish was for everyone he loved and knew to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. He was a faithful believer, and now rests in Heaven for all eternity, waiting to be reunited with those he cherished.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bridge Hospice Care Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, OH, for the excellent and compassionate care they provided to Steve and his family.
