Thomas J. "Butch" Sterling, 76, of Findlay, peacefully passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at The Heritage. He was born on June 20, 1940 in North Baltimore, OH to the late John W. and Mabel C. (Wheeler) Sterling. Thomas, and the love of his life, Donna L. Harris, were married December 31, 1978 in North Baltimore by his father, then Mayor John W. Sterling.
Thomas retired from Cooper Tire and Rubber Company after 39 plus years of service. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Methodist Church in North Baltimore, formerly Evangelical United Brethren Church. Thomas was a member of F&AM Masonic Lodge #227 in Findlay, a life member of Sons of AMVETS, Fraternal order of the Eagles, and loyal order of the Moose. He was also a member of the Men's Auxiliary to the VFW, Sons of the American Legion, and Veterans Auxiliary to the DAV.
In addition to his loving wife Donna of 37 years, Thomas is survived by his children, Denise (Tom) Green, and Dianne (Bruce) Fleckner both of North Baltimore, OH; Tammy Montgomery (Warren Krout) of Findlay, OH, Toni (Larry) Smith of Ottawa, OH, and Steven (Nikki) Shearer of Bryan, TX. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces; and a sister, Bonnie Routson of Findlay, OH. Thomas was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin, James, and Robert Sterling.
Friends and family may visit on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A private graveside service will be held in New Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore, OH. Memorial contributions in Thomas's name may be made to the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County.
