Thomas G. Mercer

Thomas Gene Mercer, 80, of Findlay, passed away on April 9, 2025, at The Manor at Greendale in Findlay, OH. He was born in Arlington, OH on November 25, 1944, to Edward and Blanche (Myers) Mercer.

On November 25, 1967, he married his loving wife Carlotta (Carol) Tenney in Mt. Blanchard, OH, and she survives along with two daughters, Heidi Mercer, and Heather (Justin) Cacy, both of Findlay. Tom is also survived by four grandchildren, Hailey, Theo, Logan, and Abe, whom he loved and adored. Tom was preceded in death by his beloved siblings and their spouses, Betty (Bill) Young, Thelma (Bill) Businger, Clarence (Vivian) Mercer, June Fetter, Barb (Jim) McDaniel, and Richard (Shirley) Mercer.

Tom graduated from Arlington High School in 1964 and served six years in the National Guard. He and his family were very proud of his achievements. He retired from Whirlpool in 2004, after dedicating 35 years. Tom enjoyed cars, being in nature hunting, fishing, and playing golf with family and friends. He loved dancing with Carol, playing the guitar and photography. Tom never met a stranger during his 80 years of life.

We would like to thank The Manor at Greendale and Bridge Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care of Tom and his family. We would also like to thank Tim Arnold, Brown Automotive and Trenton Ave. Walmart for the kindness they showed Tom in his later years. Friends and family may visit from 10-11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500). Tom’s funeral service will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Cathy Davis officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
