Verda Mae (Leach) Swartz

Verda Mae (Leach) Swartz, 85, of Attica, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2020 at Bellevue Care Center in Bellvue, OH. She was born October 20, 1934 in Elyria, OH, daughter of the late John S. and Hazel E. (Martin) Leach. Verda married Lester J. Swartz on March 23, 1957 and he preceded her in death.

Verda was a Berlin Heights High School graduate. Her sons owned, trained, and raced Standardbred horses. She loved watching the races, especially at the county fairs and often videotaped the races. Verda always enjoyed reading a good romance book.

Verda will be remembered by her children, Russell (Deb) Swartz, Michael Swartz, Melinda Schwochow, Sandra Swartz; 20+ grandchildren, and 20+ great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Gayle Leach; and sister, Evelyn Vorman. Verda was preceded in death by two daughters, Carla and Kristina Swartz; and a son, Jeffrey Swartz.
