Virginia June Umphress

June, age 91, passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Van Buren, OH on Monday, August 27, 2018 with her immediate family by her side. June was born on June 30, 1927, in Hoytville, OH to Forrest and Martha Elizabeth (Metz) Way. She is survived by a brother, Richard (Rochelle) Way, Zephyrhills, FL and sisters, Marjorie Tracewell, Findlay, OH; Joann (Wade) Benson, Findlay, OH and Linda (Jim) Wolf, Findlay, OH along with a number of nieces and nephews. June met James William Umphress (deceased) in 1946 and they were married on September 21, 1947 in Benton Ridge, OH at the Good Shepherd Church and shared 58 years of marriage. They had three children, Vicki J. Shively (Richard, deceased), Findlay, OH, Gary Lee (Vicki Veit) Umphress, Van Buren. A son, Gregory James (Barbara Palmer) Umphress predeceased her. Surviving grand-daughters are Lesa Jean (Umphress) DeMuth and Tracy Umphress (Eric) along with three great-grandchildren, Cristen Cramer, Kayla DeMuth and Casey Cramer; and step-grandchildren, Casey (Jeannie) Ricker, Fostoria, OH, Travis (Megan) Ricker, Pittsburg, OH and Elizabeth (Jacob) Cassinari, Cincinnati, OH. After graduating from high school, June attended Tiffin University through a military grant. She enjoyed working at the Hochstettler Elevator in Findlay until her marriage. She was a former church secretary and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitching and knitting for many years. She previously enjoyed her winter home in Naples, FL. A graveside service will be held at Bechtel Cemetery, Van Buren, OH on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donnie Ayers officiating.
