Walter E. West

March 30, 1953 — November 12, 2025

Findlay

Walter Eugene West, 72, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at Birchaven.

He was born March 30, 1953, in St. Joseph, Michigan to Joan Ruth West Pine and William West Sr.

Walter went to St. Joseph Public schools before his family relocated to Big Paw Paw Lake, where he attended Coloma Community School. There, he excelled academically both in his studies and extracurricular activities, joining the Tennis Team, National Honor Society, and Drama Club, graduating in 1971.

Walter worked for Noble Shoes for a number of years as an auditor, relocating frequently across different states before ultimately settling in Findlay. He later retired from Whirlpool after over 20 years of dedicated service. Walter enjoyed volunteering his time coaching softball and teaching Sunday school classes.

Walter was admired for both his kindness and generosity. Always a true gentleman, he also had a mischievous streak. He enjoyed making people laugh and was an avid fan of Westerns—especially those starring John Wayne—and the James Bond series. It seemed he had watched just about every movie there was.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Brian M. West of Fostoria, and his daughter, Amberlynn (Ryan) Burns of Findlay; four beloved grandchildren, Alexus (Aaron) Fuller, Quenton Burns, Aidan West, and Rylan West; three great-grandsons, Timothy and Dustin Fuller, and another great-grandson expected in January. In addition, his high school sweetheart, Jackie.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Bill, Warren, and his sister, Debby.

Per Walter’s request, there will be no funeral. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, (419-422-1500) is honored to serve Walters’s family.

Memorial contributions in Walter’s name may be made to 50 North, 339 E. Melrose Ave., Findlay, 45840 or Grace Speaks, 1331 Tiffin Ave, Findlay, 45840.
