Carmella T. Hufford, age 92, of Tiffin, peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 29, 2020. She was born October 13, 1927 in Tiffin to the late Paul and Maria (Perna) Panuto. She attended St. Mary Catholic School and was a 1946 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. On July 24, 1954, Carmella was united in marriage to Jack Hufford and he preceded her in death in 2011.
A life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church she enjoyed singing in the church choir. Carmella worked at General Electric for many years and also served as a lunch lady at West Jr. High in Tiffin. Upon her retirement, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Carmella took pride in her cooking, making her famous pasta, sauce, homemade bread, and pies for her Sunday family dinners. She enjoyed taking winter trips to Florida with her husband Jack and annual trips to Lexington, Kentucky for the standardbred horse sales and racing.
Carmella will be forever remembered by her children, David (Tina) Hufford Sr., and Lori (Dale) Gundlach; grandchildren, Anthony Hufford, Jason (Becki) Gundlach, Nicholas Fry, David (Nicole) Hufford Jr., Kyle (Michelle) Saxton, and Mackenzie Saxton; great-grandchildren, JackLynn Fry, Dixie Fry, and Peyton Saxton. She is also survived by a sister, Rosemary Cruetz; and sister-in-law, Mary Panuto. Camella was preceded in death by her sisters, Nina Shireman, Mary Kerschner; brothers, Dominic, John, and Joe Panuto; brothers-in-law, Karl Kerschner, Paul Creutz; and sister-in-law, Jacqueline Panuto.
The family would like to thank all those involved in the care of Carmella over the last few months, especially those from Stein Hospice.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay, Ohio (419-422-1500). A scripture service will be held at 2:45 p.m. on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, Ohio. Carmella will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Carmella’s name may be made to any Hospice Care Center of the donor’s choice.
