Dessamae “Duke” Curry, age 91, of Findlay, departed this world and entered her eternal home in heaven on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center. Born August 22, 1931, in Williams Center, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ross and Helen (Newman) Brannan. Dessamae was the devoted and loving wife to the late David Franklin “Frank” Curry who preceded her in death in 1979.
Dessamae was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past regent from 2007 to 2010, as well as a member of the Mayflower Society, First Families of Ohio, and Findlay Radio Club. In addition, she was past president of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Dessamae had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed daily crossword puzzles, genealogy, ham radio, gardening, a good game of bridge, and board games with friends and family.
Dessamae is survived by her two sons, Todd (Alice) Curry of Fort Wayne, IN, and Scott (Bonnie) Curry of Salem, SC; eight grandchildren, Gabriel (Brittany) Curry, Samantha Curry, Kasey (Kara) Leonard, Kris (Val) Curry, Kelli Weaver, Matthew (Hyunsheen) Curry, Julie (Mark) Walski, and Hilary (Jonathan) Perrino; and ten great grandchildren, Liam Curry, Elizabeth Curry, Shelby Clark, Isaac Weaver, Trinity Weaver, Luke Weaver, Scott Walski, Benjamin Walski, George Perrino, and Audrey Perrino. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Smith of Hicksville, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Frank Curry; parents, Ross and Helen Brannan; and a son, David Curry.
Friends and family may visit from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at Hufford Family Funeral Home, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay (419-422-1500). Dessamae’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 27, at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. in the church’s Atrium prior to the service. Pastor Cathy Davis will officiate. Interment will be Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery.
