Doris Rice Obituary

On Sunday, October 11, 2020, the angels came from Heaven to take Doris L. Rice, to be with her Heavenly Father and all of her loved ones. She was born on October 17, 1930 to her wonderful parents, Walter and Lavene Seaman. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her precious husband, Ted Rice; and her only brother, Reed Seaman.

Doris lost her husband Ted (Teddy Bear) in 1987. They were married December 8, 1952 and spent 34 ½ years together. Ted was the love of her life and said she was so lucky to have a real life Teddy Bear. Doris and Ted spent a lot of years at their summer home in Marblehead, Ohio. She retired from Marathon in 1973 after 25 years of service and was a member of the Moose Lodge. She loved Karaoke and met so many friends. After her husband’s death, she moved in with her best friend Marcella Starr. She felt so blessed to be adopted by the Starr family, they treated her like gold. The Rice and the Wooten families also treated her like family. One of her achievements was to attend 12 years of school and was never absent or tardy. Doris never met a stranger and she was the happiest when she was making someone happy. She truly love life and had many friends and everyone loved her. Her nephew Randy Woodruff, made the last days and years of her life wonderful. Doris called him, her Hero and had the biggest heart of gold. She also had a guardian angel, Kay Lambert, who was always there for her. Doris’s mother was the oldest of the Conine family which consisted of 19 aunts and uncles.

Doris is survived by her sisters-in-law, Ann Ward, Kay Rice, Anita McDonald; brothers-in-law, Jay, Gary, Doug (Jane) Rice, and Ed McDonald. She was preceded in death by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces; sisters-in-law, Barbara, Sandra Rice, Ben, Carl, David Lee, Larry, Randy Rice, Betty Jo, Addie May, and Alan Rice, and Dan McDonald.
