Dorothy Gibson

Dorothy Gibson, 88, went to her eternal home Saturday, July 15, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Ada, Ohio November 4, 1934, to Frank and Susan (Atchison) Gibson.

Dorothy worked at RCA for 17 years, Whirlpool for 28 years and earned her STNA certificate at the age of 71 so she could be a caregiver to many people. She was a devoted Christian, attending Salvation Army church as her three older children were growing up, even cooking for a church camp in Colorado. She loved going to auctions, working a food truck, bowling, ceramics, roller skating, traveling, and driving to many states vacationing and visiting family. Above all, Dorothy had a passion for her family and caring for others. When her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born, she loved spending time, love, and laughter on them. She especially enjoyed going to watch their ball games and school activities. She drove her grandchildren to school every year on the first day of school. Many people will miss Dorothy’s sense of humor.

Dorothy is survived by a son, David (Elizabeth Lafferty) Marshall; daughters, Deborah Bays, Ginger (Nathan) Dirmeyer; brother, Raymond (Karen) Gibson; sisters, Ann Vela, Irene (Gerald) Pfannenstiel, Darlene Gibson Dion Chandler; grandchildren, Gregory, Paul, Nathan, Matthew, Zachary, Alexandra, Timothy, Stacye, Austin, Dustin, Quinton, Coleton; great-grandchildren, Melody, Gibson, Marshall, Jacob, Maci, Lillian, Nora Jean, Lionel, Noah, Kenyon, Kenzley, Kalaya, and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Bays; granddaughter, Holly Artis; great-grandson, Benny Bays; brothers, Harold, Gibson, Bill Gibson, Don Gibson.

Graveside services for Dorothy will be Friday, July 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Dunkirk Cemetery, with Pastor Jim Klausing presiding.
