Douglas MacArthur Sparks, 68, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2020 at Bridge Hospice Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He went to join his beloved wife and son in the Kingdom of Heaven. Doug was born September 8, 1951 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Billy and Madgie (Gibson) Sparks. He married his wife, Jacquelyn Kay Spence in 1972 and she preceded him in death.
Doug, founder and owner of Ohio Trading Post, loved antiques and considered himself an original American Picker. He had a passion for NASCAR and fishing. What Doug lived for most was his family and spending time with his children, grandkids, and his pet dog Twink, who stuck by his side to the end.
Doug is survived by his sons, Bill Sparks, Dougie Sparks, Wayne Sparks, and Destin Sparks; daughters, Amanda Jolliff, Amber (Heath) Baney, and Ashley (Matthew) Feczer, all from Findlay; 19 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William A. (Jane) Sparks of Delbarton, WV, David (Jean) Sparks of Gilbert, WV; sisters, JoAnn (James) Johnston of Findlay, Rosie (Roger) Workman of Delbarton, Kaye (Carlos) Thompson of Fostoria, Helen (Clifford) Gibson; his companion, Cindy Cramer; and best friend, Shannon Lanker. Doug was preceded in death by a son, Wade Jackson Sparks; grandson, Alyjah Sparks; sister, Barbara Ziessler; brother, Bill Sparks Jr.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 5-7 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 27th at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Dutch VanderVlucht officiating. Doug will be laid to rest with his wife and infant son at a later date in Lenore Cemetery, West Virginia. Memorial contributions in Doug’s name may be made to the Family in c/o Hufford Family Funeral.
