George Harold Folk, 84, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Monday, February 27, 2023, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. He was born September 12, 1938, in Findlay, Ohio to Earl E. and Mary N. (Corron) Folk. George was married to Lola Shafer, and they divorced.
George was a graduate of Findlay High School, class of 1957. He was a typesetter at The Courier and retired after 44 years of service. George loved his family greatly. He had a unique sense of humor and would bring laughter to any occasion. George enjoyed his many hobbies: coin collecting, hunting rabbit, pheasant, and squirrel, loved taking his boat on Lake Erie, and was an avid fisherman. George’s passion in life was to golf. He played nearly every day, walking all 18 holes! George decorated a float for the 2015 Rose Bowl parade with the theme “Celebrate Family” and watched the game live with his sisters.
Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Miriam (Jon) Kinnison of Mesquite, Nevada, Nancy Shinn of Santa Barbara, California, Patricia Folk of Santa Barbara, and Linda Folk of Prescott, Arizona. George was loved by many friends, family, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Edwin, and Harlen Folk.
