Harold Louis Reinhart, 91, of Alvada, OH, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on June 7, 2020 in the comfort of his family farm. He was born to the late Alvin and Rose (Tiell) Reinhart on November 12, 1928 in Alvada. On April 11, 1959, Harold and Betty Jo Gabel were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fremont. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2010.
A Korean War veteran, Harold proudly served his country in the US Army from 1950 – 1952 before being honorably discharged. He retired from Whirlpool after 12 years of service and was a dairy farmer for 34 years. Harold was a life member of the VFW Post 3759 and the American Legion Post 344 both in Carey, American Legion Post 354 in New Riegel, and Fostoria Moose 1567. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his Dodge cars. Harold was also a member of All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel. Harold’s greatest joy came from telling stories of the war and other memorable parts of his life.
Harold is survived by his five sons, Patrick W. (Catherine), Flower Mound, TX, Roger R., Fostoria, Duane J., Alvada, Scott E. (Julie), Holland, John R. (Karen), Alvada; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Kelsey), Ross (Cassandra), Paul, Elizabeth, Justin, Zachary, Samuel, and Danyelle. He is also survived by siblings, Joan (John) Meyer of Findlay, Mildred Biller of Republic, Francis (Angie) Reinhart of Tiffin, Helen (Hank) Reineck of Gibsonburg, Alvin Jr. (Kate) Reinhart of Kansas, Silverius (Mary) Reinhart of New Riegel, and Ralph (Mary) Reinhart of West Milgrove. In addition to his wife and parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Douglas; two brothers, Maurice J. Reinhart and Earl Reinhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at All Saints Catholic Church in New Riegel with Fr. Tim Kummerer officiating. Interment will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery where the New Riegel American Legion will conduct full military rites. The family understands that due to the current restrictions regarding large gatherings, many who wish to show their love and support in person will be unable to do so.
