Ivan Howard Thomas, 78, of Findlay, passed away peacefully in his home on October 19, 2020. He was born on March 25, 1942 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Carl and Isabelle (Phillips) Thomas. Ivan married the love of his life, Linda (Brenner) Thomas, and they were married for almost 58 years.
Ivan truly enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren the past 12 years, Lola, Nora, and Lane Schiltz. His grandchildren were a major part of his life the past 36 years, Will Toeppe, Ryann (Sean) Bordelon, Kimberly (Chris) Schiltz, and Danielle (Gary) Harger. Ivan was always an active participant in his children’s and grandchildren’s sports adventures. He was a very generous person to all his family and friends.
Ivan is survived by his loving wife Linda; son, Alan (Cathy) Thomas; daughter, Sherry (Richard) Toeppe; sister, Pauline Tesnow; and sister-in-law, Sondra (Walt) Altenburger. He has many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he was very fond of and close to. Ivan was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bridge Hospice for his care the past few weeks.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 6 – 8 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior (10-11 a.m.) to the service at the funeral home. Pastor Mike VanDenEynde will officiate the service. Due to COVID-19, wearing a mask and social distancing is requested. Memorial contributions in Ivan’s name may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s choice.
