JaVan Junge, 73, of Findlay, passed away at home unexpectedly on August 5, 2020. Born February 9, 1947 in McComb, Ohio, to the late Gilbert W. Junge and Frieda (Miller-Junge) Wetherholt, JaVan was raised by Frieda and his late stepfather Harry Wetherholt. On February 13, 1965, JaVan married Jeanette Hock and shared 55 wonderful years.
JaVan was a Van Buren High School graduate. He remained an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and a huge supporter of Van Buren Black Knights athletics. He was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. JaVan was always building or fixing things. He retired from Whirlpool after 43 years of service. After his retirement and because of his enjoyment of work, for the past 8 years he worked at the Fairfield Inn. JaVan was “Papa Jay” to his grandkids, who he fiercely loved with all his heart; they will miss him terribly as we all will. It is hard to imagine life without him.
JaVan is survived by his loving wife Jeanette; sons, Darrin Junge, Craig (Kristina) Junge, both of Findlay; five grandchildren, Alex Junge of Mason, OH, Madison Junge of New York, NY,, Olivia Junge of Cincinnati, OH, Sawyer Junge and Kendyl Junge, both of Columbus, OH; brother, Larry (Judy) Junge of North Port, FL and Lima, OH; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Leckey of Van Buren, OH. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Judy Hock of Jackson, MI; and many nieces and nephews. JaVan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim Hock.
Friends and family may visit from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A Celebration of JaVan’s life will be held in conclusion of visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Sharrett officiating. Memorial contributions in JaVan’s honor may be made to the Van Buren Athletic Boosters.
