Jean Joan Dwyer met with her Creator on June 1, 2020. She was born on November 3, 1931 in Jackson, Michigan, and died at the age of 88.
Jean grew up as the youngest of three girls and two boys. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Star of the Sea High School (Jackson, Michigan) as well as the St. Francis School of Nursing (Columbus, Ohio). Jean’s career was as a registered nurse. She was a loving person who cared deeply for all of God’s creatures. Jean was far ahead of her time in passionately supporting social justice for all people. She loved cats and dogs and animals of all sorts and was a member of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Jean loved pets and, until her very last days, her dog Buddha brought her great joy. Jean rescued stray cats and kittens who were lucky enough to cross her path and gave them a loving home.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents Mildred and William Dwyer, her brothers, Bill and Theodore Dwyer; and sisters, Kathleen (Dwyer) King and Frances Dwyer. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Mark) Lowry; and her sons, John Dwyer, Michael Galose, and William Galose.
Her passion for social justice and love of animals lives on through her children.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in her memory to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund at (https://curealz.org). HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
