John Charles Collins, 74, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2020 at home with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky on November 9, 1945 to the late Calvin C. and Jeanette P. (May) Collins. John married his loving wife, Vicki A. (Hitchcock) on December 27, 1966, and she survives.
John graduated from high school and attended Mayo Vocational School in machine shop. He was a retired millwright from Cooper Tire in Findlay where he had worked for 35 years. John proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam before being honorably discharged.
John was also a lifetime member of V.F.W. and D.A.V.
John is survived by his wife Vicki; sons, John C. (Dawn) Collins of Fostoria, Jason C. Collins of Findlay; daughter, Julie A. (Justin) Niles of Findlay; five grandchildren, Darion Niles, Olivia Collins, Cheyann Niles, Gage Niles, Owen Collins; and one great-grandson, Gunner Niles. He is also survived by his brother, Albert T. Collins of Rawson; sisters, Juanita C. Blevins of Findlay, Phyllis A. Merritt of Marquette, MI, and Frances Collins of Sitka, KY. John was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Collins; and a grandson, Tyler VanWormer.
A family funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) with Pastor Jim Klausing officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions in John’s memory may be made to Cancer Patient Services.
