Joy June (Shank) Brown, 82, of North Baltimore, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Briar Hill Health Campus in North Baltimore, Ohio after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
Joy was born on October 31, 1937 in Mount Blanchard, Ohio to the late Leslie A. and H. Doris (Musgrave) Shank. On August 10, 1956, she married George D. Brown at the United Methodist Church in McComb, Ohio. He passed away on October 7, 2008. They have four children, Harmony (Buster) Crabb of Abilene, TX, Steve (Jody) Brown of Findlay, OH, Melanie (Jody Barfell) Drake of Findlay, and Melinda (Chuck) Medley of Abilene, TX. Joy was blessed with eight grandchildren, Amber, Tre, Tiffany, Tabatha, Deborah, Megan, Tony, and Savannah; twelve great-grandchildren, Autumn, Zoey, Joslynn, Jayden, Ryanasia, Alfred, Dawan, Jo”Varion, Sammy, Gabriel, Tony, and Aries; and two great-great-grandchildren, Raven and Zia. Joy is also survived by a sister, Joleen Peters of Findlay; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Linda Shank.
Joy was mainly a stay at home mom. She worked at Rinks/Bargain City and was well known for her homemade cheesecakes when she worked at D’s Pancakes. Joy was the first Homecoming Queen for McComb High School. She also was in the parade to celebrate 25 years of homecomings. Joy enjoyed traveling, shopping, and parties. She loved spending time with her sister, family, and all her grandchildren.
Joy will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. She never met a stranger in her life. Joy was a very caring person and willing to always help anyone out no matter the need. She was an avid animal lover.
Friends and family may visit from 2 – 4 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2020 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A funeral service will follow in conclusion of visitation on Friday at 4 p.m. in the funeral home. Pastor Thomas McDonald will be officiating. Memorial contributions in Joy’s name may be made to Church of the Great Peace Native Fellowship, County Road 205, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
