Leon Michael “Mike” Nidek passed away at home on November 13, 2022 at 4:03 a.m.. He was born in Findlay, Ohio on September 14, 1942 to the late Sylvester and Mary Nidek (NAJDEK). On May 9, 1963, he married Karen Sue Lammers, the love of his life, and she preceded him in death just 10 days earlier on November 3, 2022.
Mike is survived by is his daughter, Kristina (John) Friese of Findlay and one sister, Judy (Jack) Adams. His son, Michael James, preceded him in death on July 29, 2012 at the age of 47.
Mike attended Findlay City Schools. He then joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS AEOLUS out of Portsmouth, New Hampshire for four years. Mike retired from Cooper Tire. He and Karen were co-owners of NAJDEKS Deer Processing, a great sausage maker, a homebrewer and wine maker, giving much of his products to friends, neighbors, and family. He was an avid collector of Findlay memorabilia and Old Dutch bottles. He was very proud of his Polish roots by preparing traditional Polish meals on holidays and keeping the Polish language alive. Mike’s greatest joy was listening to doo-wop and spending time with his three grandsons, Michael, Nathan, and Sam.
There will be no visitation or services. Donations may be made to the Mount Blanchard Community Swimming Pool in Mike’s name. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, was honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.huffordfh.com.
