Lynn Davidson Obituary

Lynn Alan Davidson, 79, died February 18 , 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living, Findlay, surrounded by his three children.

Lynn was born March 8, 1943, at Fort Sam Houston Army Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. His father, F. Derol “Bud” Davidson, was stationed there while serving in the U.S. Army. At 6 weeks old, Lynn traveled by train to Ohio, and was raised by his grandparents, F. Floyd and Ocie (Beagle) Davidson in Hancock County.

He was a 1961 graduate of Findlay High School where he played trumpet in the band and participated in choir and several musicals.

He married Sandra K. Crist in 1971, and they were later divorced. He is survived by three children, Christa (Jesse) Steiner, Springfield; Cori (Shayne) Bellina, League City, Texas; and Tyler (Nicole) Davidson, Warrenton, Virginia; and nine grandchildren, Casey (Jacob) Houtz, Erin Steiner, Mattilyn Steiner, Brittany (Creighton) Eldridge, Hannah Crawford, Kayden Crawford, Mason Fletcher, Jackson Fletcher, and Kash Davidson. Lynn is survived by one brother, Donald (Lorrie) Davidson, Findlay. A sister, Karen (Davidson) Kimble, is deceased. He is also survived by his very best friend, David Allen (Kris) Rice, Findlay.

A hard worker from a young age, he worked at Bazley’s Meat Market, National Lime & Stone Co., Centrex, Ohio Engineers, and retired from S.E. Johnson/Shelly Co. He was a talented heavy equipment mechanic and operator, and life member of I.U.O.E. Local 18.

While his children were in high school, Lynn was a proud member of the Cory Rawson HS football chain gang, helping run sideline chains on Friday nights. He also looked forward each week to helping paint the football field in preparation for Friday night games, holding banners for the cheerleaders, and anything else his children roped him into, including building and hosting school-wide bonfires. He never missed a school event for his kids.

Known as a quiet observer, Lynn was always thinking of unique ways to solve everyday problems. If he couldn’t buy parts, he’d build them himself. Notepad in hand, he was always sketching new design ideas, especially for sprint car wings.

Nicknamed “Amigo,” he had a small circle of amazing friends. He enjoyed auto racing of all kinds, as a driver, mechanic, designer, fabricator, and spectator. He enjoyed old cars, old trucks, and old friends.

Lynn spent the last year of his life being lovingly cared for at Brookdale Senior Living, Findlay.

A regular topic of conversation was how he’d spend his money if he ever won the lottery. Lynn’s first thought was always “I’d like to give some money to a children’s hospital.” Therefore, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, in Lynn’s name.
