Margaret Patricia LeRay, 93, of Findlay, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2020 at The Heritage. She was born June 11, 1927 in New York, New York to the late Harry and Mary (McGrath) Hewitt. Her childhood was spent in the sandy beaches of Florida. Margaret met her husband Bob at a USO dance, it was love at first sight. They were married on December 14, 1946.
Bob and Peggy owned The Carriage House Restaurant for 10 years and she loved being the hostess and all three children worked with them. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Browns fan with a special bond with her son Pat. She was also an avid bingo player and a wonderful artist. One of the highlights of her life was traveling across Europe with her husband Bob.
Margaret and her daughter shared a great joy of Astronomy and spent countless nights star gazing.
Margaret is survived by her children, Patrick (Mary) LeRay of Findlay and Kathleen “Robyn” (Douglas) Smith of Findlay; grandchildren, Erin (Scott) Roth of Findlay, Nathan (Karen) LeRay of Cincinnati, Jennifer (John) Lane, Lindsay (Eric) Businger both of Findlay, Bryant Smith of Findlay, Jamie (Kyle) Kempfer of Niwot, CO, Matthew (Jennifer) Murdock of Reno, NV; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; and son, Michael LeRay.
The family would like to thank The Heritage staff for the loving care and the fun they had with Margaret.
All services will be held private. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions in Margaret’s honor can be made to the Humane Society & SPCA of Hancock County.
