Mertie Leota Goodluck, 88, of Benton Ridge, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Birchaven Village. Born June 14, 1932 in Benton Ridge, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Mertie (Nutter) Bracy. In November 1952, she married Wilmer R. Reese Jr. and they later divorced. She then married Calvin J. Goodluck in 1986 and he preceded her in death.
Mertie was a Liberty Benton High School graduate. She was a member of the DAV and was the manager of the local Harris and Cinema World Movie Theaters. She later was the front-end manager of Albertsons in Hallandale, Florida. She loved putting puzzles together, dancing to music, and going to concerts. She was an avid all sports fan and loved sports cars, motorcycles, watching old movies while eating popcorn and eating her favorite Mexican food. In her spare time, Mertie enjoyed gardening, flowers, and yellow roses being her favorite. She always enjoyed going to the beach in Florida, going on vacation and site seeing. Mertie truly loved her family, her Grand-dogs, and birds.
Mertie is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Brad) Rathburn, Villa Rica, GA, Vickie (Denny) Anast, Findlay, Natalie (LeRoy) Carroll-Reese, Tucson, AZ, Kathy (Dave) Dulaney, Findlay, and Cindy (James) Bailey, Findlay; step-son, Larry (Kay) Reese, Findlay; step-daughters, Sherry (Al) Myers, Patty (Dave) Swartz, both of Findlay, and Vanessa (Chuck) Houck of New Bern, NC; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Imelda Siferd of Bloomdale, Dorthy Adams of Summit, MS, Lulabell Bracy of Benton Ridge; and a brother-in-law, Ray Dunlap of Benton Ridge. Mertie was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale and John Bracy; her sisters, Violet Magee, Bernita Martin, Donna Bowser, and Fern Dunlap.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020 in Lee Cemetery, Vanlue, Ohio. Minister Dwight Allen will officiate. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions in Mertie’s name may be made to American Cancer Society.
