Nancy Thomas Obituary

Nancy Ellen Thomas, (88), of Findlay, passed away on January 21, 2021 at her Birchaven home in Findlay, Ohio.  She was born in Paulding, Ohio on July 9th, 1932 to the late O.W. and Verna (Gillespie) Buchanan.  She married Lawrence W. Thomas on August 29, 1953 who preceded her in death on November 13, 2020.

Nancy is survived by her: Son, Mark E. (Ronda) Thomas of Grafton, Massachusetts, Daughter Beth E. (Kevin) Lee of Liberty Township, Ohio, Son, Paul R. (Amanda) Thomas of Westerville, Ohio, Daughter, Anne L. (John) Hoffman of Kalamazoo, Michigan, her brother John (Kathryn) Buchanan of Willoughby, Ohio, her sister-in-law Nancy (David) Buchanan of Mount Dora, FL, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.  Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, brother, David and Stepfather Donald Hutton.

Nancy attended Paulding High School and graduated in 1950 as co-salutatorian. She went on to earn a degree in Registered Nursing from St Luke’s Hospital of Cleveland, Ohio in 1953.  She worked as a registered nurse at; Henry Ford Hospital of Detroit, Michigan and Princeton Hospital of Princeton, New Jersey, St. Francis Hospital Peoria, Illinois, Tiffin State Hospital Tiffin, Ohio, Fostoria Hospital Fostoria, Ohio, and Fremont Hospital Fremont, Ohio in Mental Health which was her passion.  She was involved with the First Presbyterian Church of Tiffin (ministers’ wife and Elder) the First Presbyterian Church of Findlay (Deacon, Stevens Minister). She was named Women of the Year by the Presbyterian Women of the Findlay Church. She enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, camping, moving tents in the rain, traveling to nearly all the states and enjoyed teaching at church.  She has received the “you are loved award” from all her family members.

A private family committal will be held at the Findlay First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.  A celebration of life for Mom & Dad will be held at a future date.
