Raul V. Hernandez Sr., 84, of Findlay, went to his eternal home with the Lord on December 23, 2021, at Blanchard Valley Hospital. He was born in Laredo, Texas on August 10, 1937, to Luciano and Manuela (Villareal) Hernandez Sr. Raul married Lucinda Stevens on August 26, 1995, and she survives.
Raul worked at Union Carbide Corporation for 33 years before retiring and then worked another 16 years at GSW Manufacturing before his final retirement. He proudly served his country as Sargent in the United States Army before being honorably discharged. Raul was a lifetime member of AMVETS Post 21, was in bowling leagues, loved to fish, and enjoyed boating. He was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan, along with the Ohio State Buckeyes. Most of all, Raul loved his children and cherished every memory with his grandchildren.
Raul is survived by his wife Lucinda; sons, Raul (Carol) Hernandez Jr., Rueben Hernandez, Rudy (Karry) Hernandez, and Randy Hernandez; daughters, Valerie (Jamie) Nye, Tracy (Russell) Walker, Tricia Hernandez, Jennifer Bissel, and Alisha (Michael) Hesson; 21 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Luciano (Robin) Hernandez Jr., Robert (Mary) Hernandez, David Hernandez, Tony Hernandez, and Ronaldo (Bonnie) Hernandez; sisters, Janie (Dan) Nusbaum, Erma (Frank) Guerrero, Lupe (John) Stacey, Sherri Baxter; sister-in-law, Minerva Hernandez; and brother-in-law, Jesse Vela. Raul also leaves behind his furry buddy, Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ramon Hernandez, Joe Hernandez; and sister, Martha Vela.
There will be no formal funeral service as there will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date. HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500) has been entrusted with the arrangements.
