Richard C. Mercer, 80, of Findlay, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Fox Run Assisted Living. He was born January 10, 1942, in Arlington to Edward S. and Blanche E. (Myers) Mercer. On August 7, 1965, Richard married Shirley A. (Sloman) and she preceded him in death in May 2021.
Richard worked at Cooper Tire and Rubber Company retiring after 34 years of service and was a member of United Steel Workers Union. He was also in the National Guard during Vietnam.
Richard is survived by sons, Richard E. (Shelly J.) Mercer of Findlay, Randall L. (Rachel M.) Mercer of Upper Sandusky; and daughter, Lorinda K. (Allan) Hartley of Findlay; 10 grandchildren, Ritchie (Lauren) Mercer, Andrew Mercer, Morgann (Brandon) Smith of McComb, Reid Mercer of Atlanta, GA, and Mollie Mercer of Upper Sandusky, Allan Hartley Jr., Ashley Hartley, Chelsea Hartley, Chad Hartley, all of Findlay, and Brandin (Caelie) Kerr; and 3 great-grandchildren, Emerson Jeffrey Mercer, Iris Anne Smith, and Bennett Lee Kerr; 1 brother, Thomas Mercer of Benton Ridge; and 1 sister, June Fetter of Moquegua, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Mercer; and sisters, Barbara McDaniel, Betty Young, and Thelma Businger.
Friends and family may visit Monday, May 2, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Funeral services will begin at 12 noon following visitation in the funeral home with Pastor David Fetter officiating. Interment will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Richard’s name may be made to Southern Care Hospice-Toledo, 6545 Central Ave. #103, Toledo, Ohio 43617.
