Richard "Shorty" L. Siferd

Richard “Shorty” Lee Siferd, age 84, of Findlay, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023, in the comfort of his home. He was born July 21, 1939, in Findlay, to Merle and Viola (Coppes) Siferd. On September 10, 1961, Shorty married Lucinda Carles and she preceded him in death in 2018.  

Shorty was a Class of 1958 Van Buren High School graduate. He worked at Whirlpool in Findlay for 27 years, retiring in April 1996. Shorty enjoyed farming for 40 years and retired in 2007. He also enjoyed repairing lawnmowers and did so for 30 years. Above all, Shorty loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Those left behind to cherish his memory is his daughter, Laura Badertscher; son, Ron Siferd (fiancé, Brittany); grandchildren, Jacob, and Lucas Badertscher, Jurnee (James) Siferd, and Boston (Nick) Siferd; great-grandchildren, Brooker, Baylor, Bowie, and Cayson; and step grandchildren, Haidyn, and Lawsyn. Surviving are also his brother, James “Jim” Siferd, and sisters, Sue (Rich) Souvenier, and Mary Helms. In addition to his wife, Lucinda, and parents, Merle, and Viola, Shorty was preceded in death by his brother, Derald “Bud” Siferd.  

Friends and family may visit Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd., Findlay (419-422-1500). Shorty’s funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 20 in the funeral home with visitation one hour (9 – 10 a.m.) prior. Pastor Jim Klausing to preside the service. Interment will follow in Bechtel Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Shorty’s name can be made to the American Lung Association at: www.lung.org.
