Robert John Horvath, 66, of Findlay, peacefully passed surrounded by love and family on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born June 16, 1955, in Washington, PA; the son of the late John F. and Thresa D. (Taper) Horvath. On April 28, 1984, Robert, and Joanie (Essinger) were united in marriage. They shared 38 years of marriage.
Robert was a Class of 1973 Findlay High School graduate and continued his education at ITT Institute of Technology where he achieved his associate degree. He worked in Communications (Engineering Field) and had retired just 2 ½ years ago. Robert enjoyed fixing up older cars. His pride and joy was his 442 Chevy he drove and dragged raced with in the National Hot Rod Association and Sports Car Club of America, LaRue, Ohio. He was also an avid cyclist and rode at times with Hancock Handlebars. Robert was a Ham Radio Operator, his call tag was N8KPS, and belonged to the Findlay Amateur Radio Club. He was a founding member of Hancock County Homebrewers Association, a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and was involved with Boy Scouts.
Aside from his interests, Robert was a talented artist who handcrafted wooden pipes, made homemade beer and wine, loved hiking, technology, and was an animal lover. He was an expert marksmanship and speed shooter, winning many championships.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Joanie; his beloved daughter, Crystal Marie Schimmoeller (Horvath) and much loved son-in-law, Jason Schimmoeller of Findlay; five grandchildren, Zoie (Maleek) Pernell, Ethan, Mackenzie, Marlissa, and Pyper Schimmoeller; two great-grandchildren, Ky’airra, and Mathew Pernell. He is also survived by one brother, Alan Richard Horvath of Pensacola, FL., many families and friends, godmother, Margaret Urbas of Canonsburg, PA; and his many fur babies. Robert was preceded in death by his in-laws, Russell and Marjorie Essinger; and godfather, Edward Horvath.
Friends and family may visit from 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A Celebration of Life Gathering is being planned on a date to be determined. Interment will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to Hancock County Home Brewers Association or Bridge Home Health & Hospice.
