Robert “Bob” J. Spence Jr., 75, of Findlay, went to his Heavenly home in the early hours on June 10, 2021 at Fox Run Manor.
Robert was born May 28th, 1946 to the late Robert J. and Lorraine Spence Sr. of Ellenton, Florida. He was a 1965 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School. Robert then enlisted in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He did 4 tours aboard the Fletcher DD-445 along with 16 years in the Ohio National Guard. Robert married the love of his life, his “Angel” Anita I. (Humphrey) Spence on December 23rd, 1967. He was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Browns, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Cincinnati Reds. Robert was a major history buff, did civil war re-enactments alongside his wife and son to reenact his love of History. Robert worked at Whirlpool Corporation in Findlay for 42 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed the time he spent at Lake Erie and playing fetch with his beloved and faithful dog Buddy.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anita; and their only son, Robert “Rob” J. Spence III alongside his wife Stephanie M. Spence of Benton Ridge. He has three wonderful grandchildren which were the greatest joy in his life, Ethan N. (Morgan) Bish-Spence of Leipsic, Kirsten J. Spence, and Grayson R. Spence, both of Benton Ridge. In addition, surviving are also three siblings, Phillip (Minda) Spence of Loveland, OH, Jerry (Rena) Spence of Winnsboro, SC, and Rita (Greg) Tomlin of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
The family request no fancy dress, but to come in your favorite Cleveland Browns, Ohio State, or Cincinnati Reds attire while attending Robert’s funeral.
Friends and family may visit from 12 – 2 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). Robert’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16th in the funeral home with Pastor Jim Klausing officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Ridge Cemetery with the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad performing full military rites. Memorial contributions in Robert’s name may be made to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
