Susan A. Yoxtheimer, 93, of Findlay, joined her beloved husband George in Heaven on Sunday, July 18, 2021. She was born in Carey on December 20, 1927 to the late John and Bernice (Williams) Boyce. Susan and George H. Yoxtheimer were married on June 26, 1949, celebrating 50 years of marriage on June 26, 1999 before his passing on September 7, 1999.
Susan grew up in Carey and graduated from Carey High School, played Basketball, pitched for the softball team and was a member of the marching band for 7 years. She went on to attend School of Nursing at Providence Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio and was employed as a Nurse’s Aide for several years and worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital Auxillary until her retirement. In 1960, Susan was named Findlay’s Mother of Twins. She was also Past Member of Royal Arcanum and Pythian Sisters and member of St. Marks United Methodist Church.
Susan was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians. She had a career in bowling for 17 years at Sportsman Lanes and won 1st place trophies for 12 years. Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, crocheting, and ceramics. She also enjoyed camping and fishing along Lake Erie.
Surviving Susan are her sons, Donald C. (Marlene) Yoxtheimer, Harry J. (Dee) Yoxtheimer, and Henry E. (Julie) Yoxtheimer, all of Findlay; 8 grandchildren, Trisha (Brad) Davis, Jill (Bill) Mason, Joe Yoxtheimer, Carrie (Michael) Harshbarger, Brandon (Samantha) Yoxtheimer, Michael Yoxtheimer, Bryan Yoxtheimer (Rebecca Dunbar), Jonathan (Christi) Yoxtheimer; 8 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kamee-Lynn (daughter, Isabella), Kayler Yoxtheimer, Owen Harshbarger, Tobias Yoxtheimer, Brayden Mason, Ella Yoxtheimer, Emma Rose Mason; and 2 Step-Great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Chase Gonyer. In addition, she is survived by nephews, Brad Boyce, Jimmy Boyce, and Chuck Craft; and niece, Gloria Jean Craft. She was preceded in death by a son, George E. Yoxtheimer; sisters, Norma Jean Boyce, Barbara Ann Craft; brothers, John Boyce Jr. and Willard Boyce; and an infant sister, Margorie Ellen Boyce.
Friends and family may visit from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at HUFFORD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay (419-422-1500). A graveside service will be held privately with Pastor Dan Metzger officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., Findlay, Ohio 45840 or to a Charity of the Donor’s choice.
